The
Tri-County Soccer League began about 20 years ago, formed by a group
of fathers
who got drafted into coaching their sons' and daughters' soccer teams with little
or no playing experience. They formed teams to "learn the game," have
fun, and exercise.
The
League has grown from 6 to 35 teams during that time. Because of "homer" referees,
the League affiliated with ISSA because ISSA promised that it would
secure referees for our matches. This was a hollow promise, and
we have paid referee assignors to assign referees for our matches.
In
time, the Over 30 division required passes to ensure that players
were 30
years old, and that only passed players are eligible to play
in League games.
An
Over 40 division evolved from the Over 30 division but does not require
player
passes. Our
League is a recreational League; only about 10% of our teams
participate in outside tournaments.
The League has operated successfully with
a minimum of administration. It has effectively disciplined
players and dropped teams for violating League rules.
